Best digital wardrobe apps in 2026: 10 apps compared

October 15, 2026 · Cas

The best digital wardrobe app depends on what you need. Whering is free with no item limit, Acloset has the most AI features, Stylebook is a one-time purchase for iPhone, Alta gives free AI outfits, and Looqa.ai is built for wearing what you already own, with cost per wear in its free plan and a full Dutch version.

Looqa.ai is our own app. We compare it on the same criteria as the others, say what it does not do, and date every price. How we compare

How did we compare the apps?

We looked at what you notice in daily use: what an app costs, how much fits in the free version, which devices it runs on, how you add clothes, whether you can plan outfits, whether it suggests outfits from your own clothes, and whether it tracks what an item costs per wear.

Every fact about another app comes from its own website or its App Store listing, checked on 15 October 2026. App Store prices change often; the sources are linked under the table. How we compare, including our own app, is in our editorial policy.

Which wardrobe app is right for you?

Free with no item limit: Whering

Whering is free to use and sets no limit on the number of items. You can pay for credits and one-off extras, but you do not have to. On a computer there is only a Chrome extension for saving items.

The most AI features: Acloset

Acloset recognises your clothes, imports purchases from web shops and order emails, suggests outfits daily and has an AI stylist chat. All features are free up to 100 items. The App Store lists that the app contains ads.

One-time purchase for iPhone: Stylebook

Stylebook has been around since 2009 and is not a subscription: you pay once. You get a free-form outfit canvas and a calendar, but no AI that tags your clothes, and no Android or web version. Looking for something similar on Android? See our Stylebook alternatives for Android.

Free AI outfits: Alta

Alta is completely free and suggests outfits from your closet every day. Its business model is shopping: the app also recommends things to buy.

Wearing more of what you own: Looqa.ai and Indyx

If you want to see what you actually wear and what each item costs per wear, Looqa.ai and Indyx are the strongest. Indyx keeps its analytics dashboard in the paid plan and works with paid human stylists. In Looqa.ai, wear analysis and cost per wear are part of the free plan, and the AI stylist only suggests outfits from your own clothes.

For a capsule wardrobe: Cladwell

Cladwell has long been strong on capsule wardrobes and, in its paid plan, builds daily outfits from your own clothes. It has no outfit calendar. Building a capsule yourself? Start with our capsule wardrobe checklist.

What should a good digital wardrobe app do?

A good app makes adding clothes easy, because a digital wardrobe is only useful when it is complete. A photo with the background removed automatically, tags the app fills in itself, and adding from a shop link save minutes per item. After that it is about what you do with it: build outfits, plan them, and see what you wear. Read more in what a digital wardrobe app is.

Free or paid?

Free versions differ a lot. Whering has no item limit, OpenWardrobe goes up to 500 items, Acloset to 100, and Looqa.ai to 25 items with 3 AI outfit suggestions a week. If you start with what you wear now, a small free wardrobe is enough to find out whether an app suits you. For a complete wardrobe, most apps eventually need a paid plan. Looqa.ai's plans are on the pricing page.

Where does Looqa.ai fit in?

Looqa.ai is our own app, so the weak points first. It is not in the app stores yet: Looqa.ai works in your browser and is invite-only for now, the iPhone app is coming to the App Store, and Android follows later. Its free plan holds fewer items than Whering, Acloset or OpenWardrobe.

What Looqa.ai does differently: it is built to help you wear more of what you already own. You add items by photo or product link, the AI sorts them in about half a minute, you plan outfits on a calendar, and you see which share of your wardrobe you actually wear. The app shows no ads and is fully available in English and Dutch. See all features or every comparison.

FAQ

What is the best free digital wardrobe app?

If you want no item limit, Whering is the free app with the most room. If you want AI features as well, look at Acloset (free up to 100 items, with ads) or Looqa.ai (free up to 25 items, no ads).

Which wardrobe apps work on both iPhone and Android?

Whering, Acloset, Indyx, Fits, Alta, Cladwell, OpenWardrobe and Pureple have both. Stylebook is iPhone only. Looqa.ai works in the browser on any device now; the iPhone app comes first, Android later.

Do digital wardrobe apps use AI?

Most do, in two places: tagging items when you add them, and suggesting outfits. Stylebook is the exception among the well-known apps: it has background removal but no AI tagging or AI suggestions.

Can a wardrobe app show what I never wear?

Yes, if you log what you wear. Looqa.ai, Indyx, Whering, Acloset, Alta and OpenWardrobe show how often you wear items and what they cost per wear.
